One of the oldest cliches of acting, I know….but I think it may apply to writing as well. It always delights me to have somebody laugh when they read a passage that I hoped would be funny, or to laugh at a line in a presentation that I had included for humor. But it’s never predictable! And I’m not sure how it’s done.

I think it has something to do with the voice of the narration — but it’s all intuitive for me. Whenever I try to write a “funny scene,” it falls flat. It has to come off in the entire situation or it doesn’t come off at all.
