Booksellers are special people. Yesterday I did an author signing at the Lake of the Ozarks and was reminded of that fact. Sarah, the manager (not in the picture), welcomed me warmly, and clerks Jenae and Gramella rung up people’s purchases with friendliness and ease. A teenager came to the counter looking for the third book of a trilogy; Jenae knew its name and location in the store instantly.
The online booksellers have the advantage of convenience; but a store, a real brick-and-mortar store, offers that human interaction and relationship so painfully missing from much of our life.
