Here are a few things I am thankful for today:
- Readers who like what I do and who post reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, and elsewhere.
- Readers who have comments, questions, or criticism and post them or e-mail them to me. Honest criticism is always appreciated, believe it or not.
- Book clubs! Some of the best times of my writing life have happened at book clubs.
- A publisher and editor who collaborate, respond, and always keep the best results for the book in mind.
- Organizations and civic groups that ask me to come speak to them. And especially libraries. Libraries are the secret weapon of democracy.
- Those who quietly and unfailingly support me as I work. God bless them, and God bless you all.
As a fellow author, passionate reader and reviewer of his very fine novels, recipient of his support in–among other things–posting a link to my website on his–, and for this odd internet friendship, I am grateful for steve wiegenstein.
And on this day of giving thanks, I am grateful for a new configuration of family gathered here in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia; for friends who have called me this morning from Norfolk; for friends on the Internet who have become part of my life; for my beautiful grandson and for his parents; for an unexpected renewal of the energy to stand up one more time for the things I believe to be right; and for the great circle of my fellow humans on this planet that is in peril.
Thank you, Steve. I’ll value your comments on my Thanksgiving blog that I hope to post no later than Saturday before we head back to Norfolk. I’ll be riding in the back seat with 19-month-old Vaughn, either napping with him or keeping him entertained on the long trip. Don’t even ask about the lengths to which first (and only) time grandmothers will go to achieve this 🙂
